Echeveria is a much-loved succulent plant, characterised by an elegant rosette and thick, fleshy leaves. The colour of its leaves ranges from bright green to blue-grey, sometimes with a pink edge. This compact plant is perfect for a sunny windowsill and adds a modern, minimalist touch. In spring and summer, Echeveria may flower, producing small, colourful blooms on a long stem.
Light
Echeveria loves light and prefers full sun. A south- or west-facing windowsill is ideal. With sufficient light, the plant remains compact and its leaves often take on a beautiful colour.
Watering
Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Echeveria is sensitive to overwatering, which can lead to rot. Water the soil rather than the rosette.
Temperature
The ideal temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. The plant thrives in warmth and dry air. Avoid prolonged cold spells and temperatures below 10 degrees.
Care
Echeveria is very easy to care for. Remove the old leaves at the base of the plant from time to time. You can repot it every two years in well-drained cactus potting soil. During the growing season, you can give it a little cactus fertiliser from time to time.
