The Monstera, also known as the ‘Swiss cheese plant’, is a very popular houseplant with large, glossy leaves featuring distinctive slits and holes. Thanks to these holes, light can reach even the lower leaves. The Monstera is very hardy and requires little maintenance.
Light The Monstera thrives particularly well in a bright spot with indirect light, but it can also be placed in partial shade. However, its growth will be slower in such conditions. Never expose it to direct sunlight, as this could burn its leaves. If the leaves do not have holes, it is likely that the plant is not receiving enough light.
Watering Water the Monstera on average once a week, as soon as the top 3 to 5 centimetres of soil feel dry to the touch. Ensure the plant’s roots do not remain waterlogged, as this increases the risk of root rot.
Temperature The ideal temperature is between 18 and 27 degrees. Do not place the plant in a draught or near cold windows.
