Succulents are true survivors. These plants store water in their leaves and stems, enabling them to withstand long periods of drought with ease. They come in an astonishing variety of shapes, colours and textures, ranging from compact, rounded forms to elongated, branching ones.

Light Succulents like bright spots, but avoid the intense midday sun. An east- or west-facing windowsill is ideal. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.

Watering Water succulents only once or twice a month, and only when the soil is completely dry. Succulents tolerate drought far better than overwatering. Overwatering is the most common mistake and quickly leads to root rot.

Temperature Succulents thrive best at room temperature. They are not frost-hardy, so they cannot be left outside over winter.

Care Succulents require virtually no care. Occasionally remove any dried-out lower leaves and add a little cactus fertiliser in spring and summer for optimal growth.
