À PROPOS DE LA PLANTE
Info Vaccinium Corymbosum
Vaccinium corymbosum, better known as the ‘blueberry’, is a much-loved fruit-bearing shrub that produces delicious, sweet berries. Blueberries are not only tasty, but also good for your health and rich in antioxidants. Furthermore, the plant is highly ornamental thanks to its beautiful spring flowers and its red colouring in autumn.
Light
Blueberries grow best in a sunny spot. The more sun the plant receives, the sweeter the berries. Light partial shade is possible, but may reduce the yield.
Watering
Water regularly and ensure the soil remains consistently slightly moist. Blueberries absolutely hate drought. Preferably use rainwater, as the plant is sensitive to hard water.
Temperature
Vaccinium corymbosum is very hardy and well-suited to our climate. It withstands cold winters without any problems.
Care
This plant requires acidic soil (e.g. peat or a special rhododendron compost). Prune lightly in winter or early spring to keep the shrub airy and productive. For good pollination and a better yield, it is advisable to group several plants together. Harvest the berries when they are a beautiful blue and ripe, usually in summer.
