À PROPOS DE LA PLANTE
Info Homalomena
Homalomena is an elegant tropical houseplant with glossy, heart-shaped leaves that range in colour from dark green to reddish-brown. Native to the tropical forests of Asia and South America, this plant is less well known than its cousins, but undoubtedly deserves a place in any plant collection. Homalomena is renowned for its air-purifying properties and its tolerance of harsh living conditions.
Light Homalomena thrives best in a semi-shaded to slightly bright spot, with indirect light. It tolerates low light better than many other houseplants, but grows faster in a brighter spot. Avoid direct sunlight, as this will quickly burn its sensitive leaves.
Watering Water Homalomena moderately, as soon as the top 2–3 centimetres of soil feel dry to the touch. Ensure the pot drains well and make sure it is never left standing in water, as Homalomena is susceptible to root rot. In winter, the potting mix can be slightly drier. The plant prefers medium to high humidity, so it is recommended to mist it from time to time.
Temperature The ideal temperature is between 18 and 26 degrees. Homalomena is sensitive to cold and draughts. Do not place it near an open window in winter or close to an air conditioner.
Care Regularly remove yellowed or damaged leaves at the base. Wipe the glossy leaves with a damp cloth from time to time to remove dust. During the growing season, in spring and summer, give the plant a small dose of liquid fertiliser once a month.
