À PROPOS DE LA PLANTE
Info Chlorophytum
The Chlorophytum, also known as the ‘spider plant’ or ‘hanging plant’, is one of the most popular and easy-to-care-for houseplants in the world. With its graceful, slender stems covered in small offshoots, it exudes a sense of lightness and whimsy. Chlorophytum is particularly well-suited to hanging baskets and is renowned for its excellent air-purifying properties.
Light Chlorophytum thrives in almost any bright to semi-shaded location. It tolerates low light better than most houseplants, but grows more quickly in a bright spot with indirect light. Variegated varieties with white stripes need more light to maintain the vibrancy of their pattern. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this will scorch the leaves.
Watering Water the Chlorophytum moderately, as soon as the top 2 centimetres of soil feel dry to the touch. Ensure the pot drains well and does not sit in standing water. In winter, the plant requires less water. Brown leaf tips are often a sign of excessively dry air or high fluoride levels in tap water. In this case, use filtered water or rainwater.
Temperature The ideal temperature is between 13 and 25 degrees. Chlorophytum tolerates slightly cooler temperatures well, but is sensitive to frost and cold draughts.
Care The small shoots on the stems can easily be cut off and repotted separately. Regularly remove yellowed leaves at the base. During the growing season in spring and summer, give the plant a small dose of liquid fertiliser once a month. Repot the Chlorophytum when the roots are coming out of the pot, as it grows quickly and regularly needs more space.
